Zee Television Network, which has its own brand image in the media world, is said to be terribly upset with Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and of late, the differences between Zee management and Botsa have reached the peak.
Botsa has acquired 49 per cent stake in Zee 24 Ghantalu channel and has taken over the entire operation of the channel in Andhra Pradesh. While Botsa is the channel's promoter, it is only for for name sake and the entire management affairs are being looked after by one Fayeem. Though Botsa's brother Satish Babu comes to the office regularly, it is Fayeem who is running the show, right from managing the financial affairs to conducting bureau meetings on a day to day basis. Satish Babu is restricted to his own work and he does not interfere in the functioning of Fayeem.
The Zee TV management is now focusing on who this Fayeem is. The management reportedly fumed at Botsa group for messing up the affairs in the news channel, which was supposed to be run on professional lines by maintaining certain principles and ethical values. Even Sivaramakrishna, who is heading the city division of Zee, is learnt to have expressed displeasure over the mismanagement of the channel by Botsa group at a recent meeting.
The Zee management brought to the notice of Botsa that there was a talk in the market that Zee 24 ghantalu channel had earned notoriety of being a blackmailing channel, rather than a professionally run news channel. There were allegations against Fayeem that he had appointed a reporter for doing sting operations against big people and making money through blackmailing them, What is worse, he is bringing pressure on the reporters to do negative stories against certain personalities and demand money from them, while leaving those who give advertisements to the channel. This bad talk has had its impact on Zee Telugu channel as well," the Zee TV management told Botsa.
The differences between Zee management and Botsa have reached such a stage that the former had threatened to take back the channel, if he was not in a position to run it on professional lines. "Otherwise, you can apply for your own logo. But you have no business to misuse Zee brand and bring it a bad name," the management told Botsa.
It remains to be seen how far these differences would go and what the repercussions would be.
