An axe called rescission is hanging right over our heads. This is a matter of life and death for about four thousand men and women in Andhra Pradesh alone, who knows nothing but writing. Who earns some virtual images; but not property. Who moves very close to power corridors; but never know the secret of getting a SEZ. For that matter, they even do not know how to get a house site during life time. And, most among this lot are lone bread earners of their respective families.
Rescission has already become man-eater. It has already eaten away the Sitara news channel and C-TV cable network.
Everyone is well aware that rescission will become more ferocious once the dust of elections is settled and the din of ballot war is over. Meanwhile we can not rule out the pre-election closure of some media houses.
Media personnel as a whole has become endangered species during the days of rescission. It seems some of the commentators in the media blogs have not realized the fact that rescission will not stop with one or two firms. It will not end with hundred or two hundred workers. It will gulp the whole media community.
It is time of integration. It is time of solidarity. It is time of harmony.
Certainly it is not the time for enjoying mutual mud slandering. The whole community is at risk of whether away.
This is time to find out measures to overcome rescission. This is time to protect our lives. Protect our profession. Let us all together find out some means and ways that strengthen us to sustain during rescission.
Media should survive. Media workforce should survive.

Dear Danny, your concern for the media and media professionals can be understood. But, one should accept the fact that media 'taanu tavvukunna gotilo taane padabotundi'. Every tom, dick and Harry started the news channel and the journalists without realising the economics of the media business and financials involved in operating a news channel, joined them and started boasting about their pay packets.
You will be surprised, that many news channels submitted their balance sheet to the banks projecting advertisement revenue of 60 crore per annum. This is something which is a joke. The advetisement pie for Telugu News channels before recession was estimated that, during fy 09-10 would be Rs 50-60 crore, post recession it is estimated that it would be Rs 30-40 crore.
How can you expect more than this when such a planning happens. No news channel can survive if it spends more than what it should be spending. which is the case with all the news channels. You cannot spend like bollywood to make a movie for tollywood audience. Everybody likes a movie made to the standards of bollywood or hollywood, viewers love to watch such movies, but where does the producer stand, his revenues come from the market that his movie is exhibited.
Journalists should be prepared to accept the market reality. They should get prepared for cut in the salaries. The managements are realising that there is no point continuing the business because its not their business.
