Journalism School principal having 7 families

In our AP journalistic society not only TV5 Karim.. there has number of Karims like Eenadu Journalism School principal M.Nageswara rao.

He spoiled around 7 families in his close circle of Eenadu. But suffers are enjoying huge powers like City Desk Visnu. So, they dont bother what will happen. But i think this situation should not be always. It come back like a bal hit into a wall.. Vishnu or any one family sufferer may also put acid on Nageswararao.

3 years back a EJS student (not mentioning name for her privacy) father came to film city to beat Ngageswara rao, while he was a sufferer like Karims Sirisha family. But his henchmen enter into the feild and close the issue.

Attack on journalist Kareem and his wife Sirisha

Shaik Kareemulla alias Kareem, a journalist with TV5, a Telugu news channel and his wife, Sirisha, a former anchor with TV9, suffered injuries when her family allegedly threw acid on them on Tuesday at their Srinagar Colony apartment.

Both were admitted to Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills. While Kareem’s condition is said to be critical, Sirisha is being treated for burns on her hands and chest. Kareem and Sirisha got married on March 22, 2008, against the wishes of her parents. Kareem reportedly divorced his first wife. Subsequently, he married Sirisha who converted to Islam. After marriage, Sirisha’s parents had lodged complaints with the police but since she is a major, no case was pursued.

Sirisha’s family then approached the SHRC. In her deposition during the hearings, Sirisha said she had married Kareem on her own accord.

According to Banjara Hills police inspector Mohd Iqbal Siddiqui, Sirisha’s father M Sambasiva Rao, a retired employee of ASI, mother Krishna Kumari and brother M Kiran Babu, came to Kareem’s house around 9.30 am. “After a heated argument, my husband was attacked by my father and brother,” Sirisha said.

Police said Kiran Babu threw acid on Kareem’s face, chest and hands resulting in his suffering severe burns. His eyes too got damaged in the attack.

“The extent of damage to his eyesight will be known only after he regains consciousness,” Dr K Hari Prasad, CEO, Apollo Hopsital, told TOI. In her complaint, Sirisha said Kareem was also hit on the head with a hammer by Kiran. Sirisha who tried to intervene when acid was thrown at Kareem also suffered burns.

“My parents came with the plan to attack us and brought the acid in a bag. Since my father carries his medicines in his bag, we did not suspect their real motive,” Sirisha said. When Kiran and Sambasiva Rao tried to flee from the scene, they were caught by the neighbours. A shocked Sirisha alerted police and 108 ambulance.

According to Kareem’s journalist friend V Suresh, the former had called up the latter in the morning asking him to come to his flat by 9 am.

“I went to his flat 40 minutes later and found Kareem moaning with pain,” Suresh said.

Dr Hari Prasad told that Kareem’s condition was critical and that he would have to be kept under observation for three to four days. Kareem suffered 30 per cent ‘deep burns’ on his face, on both his eyes, chest and hands. Sirisha suffered five per cent burns on her chest and hands. Kiran Babu whose ear Kareem had reportedly bitten also went to the hospital for treatment. Kiran Babu and Sambasiva Rao were arrested.

సమాజ సంక్షేమంపై తమకే గుత్తాధిపత్యం ఉన్నట్లు గొప్పలు చెప్పుకునే కొన్ని ఛానెళ్ళు బాధ్యతా రహితంగా వ్యవహరిస్తూ ఏవగింపు కలిగిస్తున్నాయి. వ్యవస్థలు కుప్పకూలేలా తప్పుడు వార్తలు ప్రసారం చేస్తున్నాయి. రేటింగుల్లో అగ్రస్థానం కోసం నీచానికి దిగజారుతున్నాయి. వ్యక్తిగత ప్రయోజనాల కోసం అవాస్థవాలను ప్రసారం చేస్తున్నాయి. ఇక్కడ ఆ ఛానెళ్ళ పేర్లను మేం ప్రస్థావించడం లేదు. అయినా కొన్ని ఉదాహరణలను ఇస్తున్నాం. వారెవరో మీకే అర్థం అవుతుంది.

ఇటీవల ప్రముఖ బ్యాంక్ కష్టాల్లో ఉన్నట్లు వచ్చిన నిరాధార వార్త ఖాతాదారుల్ని భయ పెట్టింది. ఆ బ్యాంక్ ఏటీఎంల ముందు పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో ఖాతా దారులు బారులు తీరడంతో నిమిషాల్లో డబ్బు ఖాళీ అయింది. ప్రజలు దాడులు జరిపి బ్యాంక్ ఆస్థులకు నష్టం కలిగించారు.

someone here asked about giri TV. It is shrigiri TV. Though staff recruitment started on Sankranthi of 2006, it still unable to produce a single cassettee. The owner swamy stays at Delhi and listens to one lady Lakshmi (formerly with ETV Aradhana as anchor). He made her CCO. It is a dullhead and literally feeds the ears of swami whenever she finds one working.

Many experienced candidates left Shrigiri. By now nearly 150 members joined and left. Presently swami is giving salaries and showing partiality towards Lakshmi's henchmen. Only Sarma (not his name. Being a brahmin he is being called as Sarma. His original name is some Dr.Rao)garu is hardnut for her. He overpowered her. But seems he is also planning to leave the TV, as he is busy with many channels as FL writer.
Only god can save Shrigiri. It will be aired only when India and Pakistan merges with one another.
The Ironleg lady should leave the Tv, then only it can produce output.

two channels were launched

Yesterday two channels were launched. One was Sitara and another was Vanita. I have no comments on Sitara, but coming to Vanita, yeah got many. But would like to share few or one important view on it, not on channel but on the event. Many so-called prominent woman leaders had come to launch first of it kind in world to have an exclusive women's channel. Can you guess? Who were those prominent leaders? Sonia Gandhi, nope, Pratibha Patil, man would think such low ranked leaders would come to launch this big channel? No way, not even Renuka Chowdary turned up to event. I have no clue what went wrong, but this channel couldnt able to pull them to event. So they left with so-called prominent people like Shantha Sinha, Jaya Suda, Ms. Kannbhiran etc. But what made things worst was the views of Ms. Chitra Ramachandran. She was one of the guest on for this event and she expressed her views on feminism and channel. She was forthright with her views and didn't mean anything wrong. What she said was that it was not fair to assume woman first than a human. We all are humans first then comes gender, religion etc., Woman must be assertive than aggressive. This channel may keep in mind while making programmes. This hurt the EGO of Vanita Channel CEO Volga. She immediately reacted to that statement and insulted guest (Chitra) on stage and on live. Poor Chitra could expected such thing and not even in mood or position to react. Volga Garu grow up, if any guest gives or express their suggestion, just say we whole heartily accept it or would keep in mind, not insult them on stage. If you had such strong views, then why did you invite her in first place, then insult her. Grow up Volga...., respect guests.....

Local TV promoted by film producer Aswini Dutt has appointed Mr. Bhavannarayana as its news chief. It is a cable TV concept extending its tentacles to all the districts with dedicated optic fiber lines and thus will have 23 channels. The project is ambitious considering its vast scope for development. Initially there may be hesitation from the media since it is a cable channel. How to run the show

Setup 10 TV sets in a room. Switch-on a NEWS Channels on each TV. Appoint 10 People who can sit infront of the TV, copy the news and record it. And make those available in the channel as scrollings and News bits. This the latest manthra of NTV. To cut down the costs, NTV is following the cheap way of getting news to run the show.

Yesterday when there was a bomb blast in Delhi, NTV copied all the visuals of NDTV and aired in thier channel by zooming in (So that NDTV logo will not appear). NTV wants to have a cheap recognition for thier channel by saying "NTV Exclusive" for the bomb blasts visuals. How come the news item will be exclusive when the news itself is copied from a National Channel?. Now-a-days they are copying the content from ETV, TV9 and TV5 as well (ofcourse, they zoom-in the entire story, so that logo will not appear). This is what that made NTV to catch the fourth position in latest rankings of News Channels.

Maa TV has changed the నేమ్ now Maa Pooja

In the new list of the approved channels, 13 names have been added while two have been removed from the earlier list. Satya TV continues to find place in the list even after 3 years of getting license. However, not a single Telugu channel is found in the latest 13 indicating that Saakshi, Asianet Telugu and Zee 24 Gantalu are yet to be approved officially.
Maa TV has changed the name of its devotional channel recently. The change is seen in the latest updated list of channels permitted to be downlinked in India. Since there is another channel called Bhakti, Maa TV must have decided to change its name. However, when there is news that Sony is going to take over the channel, the sudden decision of the channel manmagement is very interesting.

On which TV was Chiru on 26 Aug?

Week 35 saw one big event in the political and the television history of Andhra Pradesh. Chiranjeevi announced his political party at a public meeting. Lakhs gathered at Tirupathi on August 26 to witness the event but millions were glued to the television set to watch the first ever live performance of Megastar. The real real reality show was watched on television by the State with all the news channels telecasting the show live.

TAM analysis of the five news channels from 1400 hrs to 1930 hrs in C&S 4+ All Sections on August 26 has NTV on the top with 34.35 GRPs, TV9 at 30.7, ETV2 at 27.38 and TV5 at 9.91, and Gemini News at 3.98 GRPs.

TV5 is second among Telugu News Channels now

When Chiranjeevi announced his Prajarajyam at Tirupati, NTV got his exclusive interview and got good ratings also. It was the leader on that day. TV5 was very unhappy with this and was angry with Chiranjeevi. Later when Katti Padmarao's issue came up, TV5 has decided to dig TRPs out of it and finally succeeded. This was a signal to the PrajaRajyam camp that if exclusives are given, others will not spare them.
TV5 is second among Telugu News Channels now. Ofcourse, it is only half of the leader TV9. Though it is closely followed by ETV2, its contemporary NTV is far behind. The consistent performance of TV5 is observed during the last two months
The war is likely to be fierce hereafter. Seems ETV2 has backed out and slowly moving out of the race. In the Entertainment channels also, ETV is in its 5th place in the latest TAM reports after Gemini, Teja, Maa and Zee Telugu

People like SR Ramanujan, I Sathyanarayana and VSR Sasthry responsible for the quality of ETV News today. When SR Ramanujan was there ETV ( All Channels) news bulletins were best bulletins in the country. ETV News telugu bulletins were best at the time of I Sathya Narayana period. Then ETV2 came under the leadership of MR. VSR Sasthry, It stood as the most credible Telugu news Channel people can believe in. Though it is a pay channel it stood as 2nd place in the ratings.

With the dedicated persons like these three, ETV news attained success. The Eenadu Management fully used their abilities and talent; it achieved greater heights but never mind their welfare. So they left the organization.

So dear anonymous don’t underestimate VSR Sasthry’s credentials. He is able person and knows how things can be done.

But now ETV news lost it’s quality because of lack of senior people like VSR Sasthry and I Sathyanarayana. If they called back the Channel will get back it’s glory.

But will Ramojigaru, an ego centered person will call them back with the same packages offered outside. He certainly not.

But he has to act immediately before the quality of ETV news deteriorating it’s standards it had earlier.

SAKSHI TV : Most of the recruitment part is over but the problem of space is yet to be resolved. Staff were paid one month salary even before they attended office and this month, they have been asked to attend in shifts, 3 hours a day. There is no chance for the channel's launch before November.

STUDIO N : With a license on hand, this channel is unable to finalise whether to bring an English News Channel or to wait for a Telugu News Channel license and launch both at a time. Again there is the problem of its premises being ready. Currently in Jubilee Hills, the team is likely to shift to its new premises in Madhapur by the end of this month.Launch may be in January 2009

iNEWS :
This is yet another channel which has not yet shifted to new premises. Insiders say that the shifting will be over by 20 th of this month.However, launch of the channel will only be in November. Only 60 percent of the staff have been recruited. The slow pace is being attributed to the completion of building.
This team was earlier identified as working for Sitara and there was some confusion whether it will be part of Star or not. Now that it is clear, the team is getting ready for its 24 Hour News Channel. With all the infrastructure already in place, the channel is likely to be on air in November.

ZEE 24 GANTALU : Since this is only an extension of existing News Bulletins in its mother channel, 30 percent of the staff are already working. Have recruited another 20 percent recently but stopped later. Delay in finishing the building work is said to be the reason. Likely to be aired in November if everything goes well

iNEWS : This is yet another channel which has not yet shifted to new premises. The editorial staff will be moving to the new premises after 25th of this month. 80 percent of the Recruitments are over and the team is confident of bringing out a good channel with their oft repeated slogan ' truth and nothing but truth'.

Mr. Kareem, a senior journalist came back to Television once again. Needless to say that he joined seniors' channel - HMTV. He is learnt to have designated as Asst Editor and he will be second in command next only to the Managing Director cum Editor in Chief as per sources. Kareem's entry is sure to create ripples in the channel . It is not fair to describe the nature of ripples since most of them in the channel are not familiar with his style of functioning and time only tells. Only those who worked with him in ETV know about him.


Mr. Nagendra, eenadu product who later worked in Andhra Jyothi and Andhra Prabha has also joined HMTV.

Mr. Rammohan, senior among crime reporters has joined Sakshi TV. He was earlier with Gemini TV and later worked in CTV also for some time. Later moved to Print Medium and worked for Surya daily.

Mr. G. Anjaneyulu, leader of Working Journalists Federation joined RTV. He left Suprabhaatam. Likely to lead Electronic media journalists now.

Arrogant Mohanbabu tookback as the media camera recorded his behaviour. MB's son Vishnu called media houses and sent them an sms giving the details of his love marriage. Two tv stations started the scroll message. Unware of this, MB rushed into tv5 office and shouted abuses at them. When he failed to find any senior guys there, he visited tv9 office along with his daughter and started shouting abuses at the senior staff. After a while tv9 people showed the text message sent by Vishnu. MB was shocked. Then tv9 people told him that his abuses were recorded in the cc camera and they want to telecast them. MB immediately ran out of the place. Later he apologized to everyone in TV9 and TV5 and also said that he will touch thier feet for his arrogant behaviour and asked to excuse him.

PS: MB's close associates say that this wild behaviour is due to the call he got from Paritala's close associate, who questioned for getting into a relation with Paritala's killers.

Its not just EENADU which is covering extensively Chiru Meetings. Turn on NDTV, CNN-IBN and check it out. There are news items about Chiranjeevi daily in those channels. Even Times Now, Headlines Today are giving slots in News Headlines about Chiru.

And yes, the only media house which is not covering Chiru extensively is Sakshi.

And I think Ramoji is not supporting Chiranjeevi nor he is opposing him. Going by the technical mistakes Chiru camp is doing out of inexperience do you think that Ramoji is behind him? If at all he is behind him, there would not be any initial technical problems which you have listed and problems regarding the party name registration.

Since chiru is a celebrity it's quit natural to give wide coverage to chiru by all the state and national channels. There is much differrnce betwwen national channels coverage and eenadu & etv coverage to Chiru. Even a lay man can understand this. But my opnion is why some of the media is supporting him like edho akasam nunchi vudi paddatlu. U know eenadu gave five full page coverage for Chiru's maiden press meet. No one, even Chandrababu didnt get that much coverage in Eenadu earlier.

Yeah I dont say Ramoji is behind chiru. I agree your comment that Chiru would have done initial mistakes if Ramoji is behing him. But blindly supporting him Ramoji is diluting the standards of Eenadu.

I strongly belive that Ramoji ( Eenadu group) supporting Chiru for his personal hatred towards YSR. It is out of compulsion only. Everybody in AP knows that.

All Eenadu and ETV bureaus got the message from Ramoji to support Chiru in the coverage. Jayaprakash Narayana got the instruction to meet Chiru and join his team. Babu is advised not to criticise Chiru. Two OB Vans are ordered to cover Chiru yatra and a special bureau will follow all the way. This is how Ramoji is planning to counter YSR in the the next elections. But the question is whether Chiru and Babu join hands after next elections.??

THE FLOW CONTINUES IN AJ..

About one week back in this blog- we predicted some more people are going to leave AJ soon. We also analysed that it is because of attitude of K srinivas. Now it became true. The chief photographer and once right hand man of RK Ramesh left the organisation. Many people may think how a chief photographer can become right hand man of RK. When RK was a reporter, he was a photographer in Indian Express group. Both were booze and gambling friends. Caste played a major role and both became close. During last 6 years he is fixer in AJ. He is unofficial purchase manager of AJ. Once Srinivas became Editor- the differences were cropped up. Srinivas shrewdly played and now Ramesh is no more. One more important thing that is going to happen soon is...

1) About 10 persons who came from vaarth and Udayam background are going left organisation. They bargained as a group with a channel. Septerber 11 is going to be a crucial day for AJ.

2) Vasanta Lakshmi, wife of Balagopal is going to play a major role in organisation. Once again srinivas shredly played a role in making her as total features incharge. Though the management is saying it is only a technicality- srinivas is trying to get hold of every organ in organisation. The deal in trouble..

The CNN-IBN deal with Andhrajyothy is in rough weather. According to realiable sources there are two problems for this deal. One is attitude of CNN-IBN management to put so many conditionalities to catch RK(AJ MD) for a cheap price. The second is Bankers. RK approached ICICI and few Nationalised banks for loan. He thought it is easy to get loan from private banks because the modalities are very simple. According to very realiable sources
the ICICI refused to give loan. They asked for some more time. Most Journos. might not aware, that in recent times RK through KS, the Editor, started wishpering campaign about the value of Andhra Jyothy. Though its worth is not more than 70 crores(including all the movable and fixed assests- though it is very high).. they started saying it is more than 100 to 150 crores. But ICICI refused to buy AJ claim and asked for some more surities. Meanwhile CNN-IBN putting pressure on AJ. Certainly these are trying times for RK and AJ.

NTV celebrates 1st anniversary

NTV and its Bhakti channel are Celebrating their 1st anniversary today. The festive mood can be observed on the screen, ofcourse, a low key affair compared to the 50 lakh budget inaugural meeting.

Insiders say that there are three reasons for lack of enthusiasm. Initially Mr. Chowdary thought of launching Vanita TV also on this day but could not make it. NTV has failed to keep atleast its 3rd position and had to give way to its junior, TV5. The revenues are also less compared to TV5 while the expenditure is more.All these reasons collectively impacted the mind of Mr. Chowdary. Despite providing modern equipment and offering reasonably high salaries he was unable to move up in the Ratings and this annoyed him greatly.

The only consoling factor is that Bhakti channel is ahead of Sanskruti ( sponsored by TV9).

Leaving aside all these financial matters to Mr. Chowdary, let us all wish our journos in NTV a happy anniversary.

I dont know why the AP media especilly eenadu which is a largest circulated, is supporting Chiru though his speach though it was immature. No politician in the country use such childish language which chiranjivi used in public meeting Ammaku boy naina toy naina nene). He is a man of above 50 years and his speach should reflect the seniority of age. His extempore speach was childish, where as the scripted speach was cinematic. If the media supports him like aha and oho it really doing blunder.

The standards of eenadu is deteriorating by suo\pporting an immatured politician like Chiranjivi. Ramoji un necessarily tagetted YSR and kashtalu koni thechu kunnadu. otherwise YSR would not be that much harsh on Ramoji. Eenadu should be neutral in news, because it need not to be biased as it has great readership. If Chandra babu was CM and did whatever YSR did today it definately praise CBN and kept quite for his wrong doings. Though eenadu supported CBN for the last 2004 elections he couldnt win. So Eenadu dont think that your support is alone makes a politician to win polls. Prajalu antha verri vallu kadhu to be guided by eenadu.

Maa Valued at 50 crores only

Sony decided not to takeover MAATV because it valued MAATV for 50 crores. Whereas the owners of MAA expected more than 100 crores. MAA management tried to hype the image of MAA TV by showing Chiru and Nag names as directors, but SONY replied "How the value of the channel will increase if Chiru and Nag are directors". They also evaluated the MAA ratings from the beginning and came to a conclusion that MAA Ratings has fallen down when Nag, Chiru, Allu and Matrix Prasad entered into it. Sony turned down the proposal and MAA is in search for a new investor who could takeover the company for more than 100 crores.

P.S: 100 crores for 60% share of MAA, rest 40% will be with Nag, Chiru, Allu, Matrix Prasad and M.K.Raju. The CEO will be Sarath Marar and no change in it. Nag and Chiru will be directing the channel from backend and Allu will be directing on day to day activities. If you are ok with these rules and policies then please contact MAA management and invest 100 crores and forget about your investment.

Plot
Chiranjeevi was born in a poor family where his father is the Constable. His Mother got married at the age of 14 and gives birth to him at the age of 15. From then chiranjeevi worked hard and carried the responsibilities of the whole family on his own shoulders. There are many twists in the story and sentimental scenes like the hero wearing Knickers in +2 class when everyone is wearing pants. Working hard in fileds during paddy riping in sewage (As per my knowledge.... land will be dry during paddy riping time but dont know how the hero worked in sewage while riping the paddy...anyway this scene got huge response from the crowds)... from there pace of the story increased as it travels from Ganji to Benz , from Mogaltur to Madras and from aalochana to aacharana....and finally from Mandhu party to Raajakeeya Party.

Story, Screenplay and Direction:
Welcome to the Good Old Big Telugu Family cinema. Chiranjeevi plays the title role of "Sevakudu", who of course did "Seva" for the family in the initial days and now he wants to do "Praja Seva" to the prajalu. He sacrifices for the family, does everything to save the name and honor of his family and also to Prajalu by starting the "Blood bank" and "Eye Bank". No one knows he's doing all these good things for the family and people but found out in the Interval bang with lot of suspense and count down when he announced the party name as "Praja Rajyam".

Second half started with chiranjeevi holding paper in his hand and reading it continuosly for 1 hour and refering basic components like "Vidya" , "Vaidyam",'Samajika Nyayam". Here we will get lot of disappointment because of the routine issues talked by many people in the past and chiru doing the same without telling us how he will do them...many people in the theatre starts Yawning here and we can see some people having Good Knap. Direction is Shoddy and pale in the second half as the interest slowly disappeared. Climax is a bit entertaining as it gives a pinch of sentiment dose to the people by hoisting the flag by a physically challenged boy. The most awaited film ended there.

Artist Performances:
Chiranjeevi himself. His Martin Luther King and Hillary Clinton like antics entertain and keep everyone alert, and the script and dialogues totally side with him in the pursuit of entertainment. There are some gags too, at the right time and place, carefully merged into the script. How he can do the things he promised is not established properly in the script creating a lot of confusion among people of what his idea to enter into politics. He and his Flag hoisting sentiment by physically challenged boy is Paisa Vasool.

This is a total, typical family entertainer; gags, sentiment and sacrifice. Nothing more or less. There've been several movies like this, and hopefully India will never give up its ‘Family Entertainers'. It's still likely you'll walk out before the climax, because in all respects the movie ends there and drags on.

Sidelights:
In the interval bang it was announced that the suspense will be unveiled and Party Name will be announced by 3 Girijanulu.......but dont know why it is not done

Summary:
Not Chiranjeevi's usual fare, but not really unlike it. With the backdrop of a Poor Guy working hard for his family and Rose from "Ganji To Benz", he still mouths witty filmy lines, pulls faces and shows pathetic expressions in his characteristic style.

Journalists in the poll

TRS party's probable candidates are in T Channel ...err HMTV as per the information. KCR's latest statement that three more journalists are going to get tickets in the next elections made them happy. Mr. Ramalinga Reddy, who was with Vaarta earlier was given a ticket from Medak district and he won the seat against a senior TDP leader Mr. Mutyam Reddy twice. Similarly, the TRS chief is hopeful of winning if some seats are allocated to journalists. So he has decided to give tickets to three journalists and all of them are in HMTV. ( No comments whether it is a sheer coincidence or the birds of a feather flocked together). Mr.Narayan Reddy, Chief Reporter, Political Bureau and Mr. Virahat Ali, Asst Chief News Coordinator are aspirants of tickets from Medak district while the Input Editor/Chief News Coordinator of the channel Mr. Laxmaiah is an aspirant of MP ticket from Peddapalli.

Interestingly, Mr. Sailesh Reddy of Zee Telugu who tried for a ticket both from Congress and TDP during last elections may also try his luck this time.But the name of the Party is still unclear. Mr. Madduleti of Vaarta from Kurnool district tried Congree ticket to fight against Mr. B.V. Mohan Reddy last time. He is trying once again.Mr. Khuda Baksh of Andhra Prabha tried Kadiri (Anantapur dist) Congress ticket last time but missed. He is again on his efforts this time.

News is that there are three aspirants in Chiranjeevi's Praja Raajyam too. Mr. Satti Babu, a senior photo journalist from East Godavari has already entered the inner circle of the party. He is now incharge of the media at Chiru's office and has been overseeing the arrangements for the media. Mr. Parameswar Rao, a senior journalist from Srikakulam dist has also joined the party though his aspirations are not clearly spelled out. Mr. Kanna Babu and Mr. Narasimha Rao of Eenadu are already named by the so called inner circle as the probable candidates.APUWJ president Mr. Somasundaram is also trying for a ticket. However, he is in a dilemma whether to join the party directly or wait till Lok Satta ties up with Praja rajyam and contest on Lok Satta ticket.Though the name of Mr. Murthy (NTV)is also doing rounds in Media circles, his friends dismiss it as a mere rumour.

Earlier, Mr. K. Keshava Rao, a journalist became Minister, PCC Chief, and later Rajya Sabha member in Congress. Mr. Laxma Reddy, a close relative of Marri Channa Reddy and the founder of NSS ( a news agency ) contested from Hyderabad Loksabha Constituency unsuccessfully. From TDP side, Mr. Kalva Srinivasulu became MP and now one of the General Secretaries of the party after being defeated in 2004. While the owners of the media organisations are keen on Council and Rajya Sabha tickets, journos are interested in fighting the polls with their field experience.

Sivaram Prasad for English News Channel

Mr. Sivaram Prasad of Studio N will be confined to the proposed English News Channel of the Narne group while Mr. Kommineni Srinivasa Rao is the likely candidate to head their Telugu News Channel. Though they got Licenses for Studio 1 ( Entertainment ) and Studio N ( News ), initially the work for the English News Channel is going on. They are yet to get a license for the Telugu Channel and once it is through, the work for Telugu News as well as Entertainment will take off. Mr. Kommineni was already contacted and he is waiting for the license to come. He is also very particular that the management spends huge amounts so that the channel is aired before elections.

Influence of REACH on Ratings

The availability of a TV channel influences its Ratings according to the TAM Data. The cooperation of the MSOs and Cable Operators makes all the difference. The figures for the month of June 16 to July 15 show this trend. The figures indicate the percentage of houses with cable connection in the country which have the facility to watch the particular channel on their TV.

The national level data show that TV5 reaches 6.86% of houses while TV9 reaches 9.46%, ETV2 8.64%, NTV 6.95 % and Gemini News 5.35%. The Ratings are in the order of TV9, ETV2, TV5, NTV and Gemini News. Here, the reach of NTV is more than TV5 but the ratings are slightly lower. This is a plus point for TV5. There is scope for enhancing its reach.

When we see the reach in Hyderabad City alone, TV9 reaches 82.29% of houses with Cable connection while ETV2 is available to 79.05%, NTV 62,41%. TV5 63.27% and Gemini News to 35.13%. The ratings of TV5 in Hyderabad city are far better than NTV and the reach is also one of the factors.

Hence the role of the MSO/Cable Operator has become very much important. First, he has to give the channel thus keeping it available for browsing. Then only the there will be a possibility of watching it. It is then the burden of the channel to keep him attracted to the channel. That is why the MSOs are demanding huge sums of Carriage Fees

RC Murthy and I.Venkat rao think that they can get good rest in News channels in their old age.Oldies like Lakshmayya and Suresh are spending their retirement days in news tvs.Aged fellows like Suvarnakumar are facing BP problems and going to hospital directly from office.By the time of elections these channels better to have ambulances parked before their offices.

HMTV Studio inauguration on 27th

HMTV, earlier known as ttv has completed civil and electrical work of its studio at A.S.Rao Nagar near ECIL and will be inaugurating the same on 27th. To see that the staff do not feel dissatisfied with the slow pace of work, the management has decided to infuse confidence among them and arranged this ' Gruhapravesham ' event on a large scale.The equipment procured so far will be installed and is likely to be completed in a month after which there will be trial runs throughout October.

Though the launch date was announced as 9th October, it may slightly get delayed according to the insiders. If the management is very particular, the soft launch ( test signals ) will be on 9th October, Vijaya Dashami day and the final launch by the end of October or 1st November. Movement of vehicles and cameras is very minimal at this stage and they are scarcely seen outside indicating that the preliminary work didnot gain momentum so far. More than 30 reporting staff have been inducted and they are kept busy browsing the internet in search of special stories. The stories ' on paper ' will be shot once cameras and vehicles are available.

Yama Donga loots Ratings for Maa

The latest ratings of the Telugu channels are really interesting. Maa TV could get 2nd place with 12 percent of market share, next only to Gemini TV. This is made possible with the help of the blockbuster movie " Yama Donga " . However, this is the last " astram " of Maa TV. One more interesting result is that Zee Telugu could surpass the ratings of ETV. The variety programmes including its reality shows brought considerable ratings for Zee. Infact, the staff at Zee have even celebrated this achievement in a big way. This is for the first time ETV dropped to 4th place. Gemini, Maa, Teja, Zee Telugu and ETV are in the descending order of their market shares. Among the News Channels, TV9 continues to be the leader while ETV2 remains in a distant second place. TV5 protected its 3rd place for the 5th consecutive week challenging its arch rival NTV.

One more new Telugu News channel is coming up in the month of November and a multi-millionnaire NRI from Godavari districts is pumping in huge amounts for the proposed channel. An MoU was signed between the Raju family from Godavari districts in this regard on Friday and the proposed channel is likely to air Telugu and English bulletins simultaneously. While the Telugu wing likely to headed by MV Ramana, the CBC man, A Chronicle product from the twin cities is likely to lead the English section. Formalities such as applying for the license and office accommodation were completed and the new premises of the office is located in the Erra Manzil area of the state capital. The new management is offering hefty packages for the team and even the trainee batches are likely to get five figure remuneration as stipends. The NRI team , basically involved in the promotion of cement industry in the Karnataka state is trying to put its base on the Telugu Channel market and the management wing is hoping to bank on the innovative team mainly. The team head of CBC reportedly submitted a list of probable innovative skilled persons in the electronic media field and he has chosen some of his past friends to join the new brigade. Though the channel is not a big one to compete with the channels like Saakshi , the NRI promoters are keen on competing the channels such as TV9, I news and the NTV initially. Senior disgruntled people in other channels were also identified by the NRI team and even the news presenter section would also be equipped with senior personalities. The recruitment process would commence from the first week of September , but sources close to NRI investors say that the channel people were banking on poaching practice mainly.

Anniversaries or Instalment nightmares ?

NTV and its devotional channel Bhakti are going to celebrate the completion of one year on 30th of this month. Mr. Chowdary is now ready with his third channel Vanitha. For want of auspicious days, the launch of vanitha is slated for 9th September. The anniversary celebrations of the existing channels will also take place on 9th. But this is not a cheerful moment for Mr. Chowdary since he has to pay huge amount towards Carriage fees to the cable operators. Apart from paying for Vanitha, he has to pay another instalment of around 4 crores for the earlier channels also. The amount he paid last year was meant only for one year and the operators are demanding fresh payment.

Last year Mr. Chowdary estimated that his channel would be popular among the audience in one year and that the people would demand their operators to show NTV. Basing on this assumption, he thought that he would not be required to request the operators. But the things are entirely different. The channel dropped from 3rd to 4th position among the 5 News Channels. Under these circumstances, Mr. Chowdary is forced to urge the operators to show his channel. He is now prepared to forego an amount of 7 crores for NTV, Bhakti and Vanitha this year.... The anniversary gift to the Cable operators.

The situation at TV5 is no different. Though Mr. Naidu is happy with the performance of the channel scaling to 3 rd position surpassing its nearest rival NTV, he is under pressure from the operators as he is also completing 1 year on 2nd October. With about 5 more news channels coming up and are ready to pay carriage fees, the operators are asking for an additional amount this year. They are even threatening to stop the channel and allocate the space to the new channels willing to pay huge carriage fees. Its no wonder if the cable Operators openly call for an auction and see that they carriage fees of more than 5 crores in the near future.

It is also learnt that the operators are unhappy with TV5 for its inclusion in Tata Sky which is against the interests of the cable operators. Though TV5 boasts itself for finding place in DTH, which its rival NTV is deprived of, it has become a negative point from the operators point of view

What do Maa Directors get ?

As already informed, Sony is going to take over Maa and the due deligence ( physical verification and evaluation of assets and liabilities ) has already started. A formula for finding out Goodwill apart from valuation of Movies on hand is also arrived at.

Now the point is, how much do the Directors get ? Maa TV was valued at Rs.100 crores when new partners came in during 2006. Mr. Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao ( Nagarjuna ) and his brother-in-law Mr. Chalasani Ramesh were together given 20 percent share. However, share of 10 Rs was offered to them only @ Rs. 7 as a special price.Hence the duo were able to get 20 percent stake in Maa just for 14 crores. Later Mr.Chiranjeevi and Mr. Aravind also together took 20 percent but the price was at par, ie, 20 crores. Then entered Mr.Nimmagadda Prasad alias Matrix Prasad. He took 20 percent on paying Rs 20 crores. He offered 2 percent to his Finance Director Mr. C. Rama Krishna. This is what happened when the new partners came in. After this, the share of Mr. MuraliKrishnam Raju is reduced to 30 percent. However, he continued to be the one with the highest share and thus the post of Chairman. Some of the early promoters and investers were reduced to nominal shareholders and all of them put together constitute the remaining 10 percent.

Now the company is being valued at Rs. 400 crores. Hence Mr. Nagarjuna and his brother-in law's share will be valued at 80 crores and hereafter they will hold 10 percent in the company. So, Mr.Nag will be getting Rs 40 crores back and yet continue to be a 10 percent stakeholder ( 40 crores ) in Maa.In less than 2 years of his investment to the tune of just 14 crores. Similarly, Chiranjeevi and Aravind will get back 40 crores and still hold Rs 40 crores in Maa for their 20 crore investment. Same is the case with Matrix Prasad.

Murali Krishnam raju, the man who got name and fame with maa TV also got huge anmount of money at two stages.He has invested around 30 crores by the time of the Cinema gang's entry and got it valued at 100 crores. He took away the 60 crores brought in by the new comers and still hold his 30 crore share in the company.Now he gets Rs 120 crores and still have 15 percent stake ( 60 crores ) in the company.However, the saddest part of it is that he ceases to be the Chairman of Maa TV.

TV5 Sreedhar in iNews

Mr.Peddi Sreedhar of TV5 has finally landed in iNews proving that those who have the habit of jumping do not stop with a single hop. Particularly the Executive Producers/Chief Producers. All the news channels are encouraging such jumps. Mr. Vinay who was initially a product of ETV has joined IVR's channel after completing one year in NTV. He has promised Rajasekhar but finally opted to join IVR's new venture. With this, Mr. Sreedhar who was unsuccessful with all other channels found this opportunity. He is also the one who completed one year in TV5 launched last year and is yet to celebrate its anniversary. Zee 24 Gantalu has roped in Mr. Bharat Reddy from TV9 and now the cycle is almost complete. It has to be seen as to who will replace these three Executive producers in NTV, TV5 and TV9.
